Rising Storm

"The prison is failing. The seal will not hold."

The warning hits all four cities in the same hour. A cherub bleeding out in Chicago. A sphinx speaking in riddles on a New Orleans dock. A song under Los Angeles that predates music. In Boston, a scar that never healed tears itself open.

Under Mount Shasta, something older than history is coming apart: a prison holding two hundred angels, and a grief four thousand years deep that has learned how to sing through stone.

For the first time, the entire Fallen Response Unit converges. Uriel and Sarah. Raziel and Luna. Seraphina and Jake. Azrael and Emma, expecting a child that angelic law has no precedent for. Eight people bound across the line between mortal and divine, plus a Nephilim whose blood opens locks that were never supposed to open, and a mountain full of the dead who never left.

Then the architect steps out of the dark, and they finally understand: every monster they've fought, every city they've bled for, all of it was a rehearsal. Their bonds weren't accidents. They were a precursor to a jailbreak.

He has twelve wings, the oldest grievance in creation, and an argument none of them can prove wrong. What he doesn't have yet is the key.

The storm the series has been building toward. Every couple. One mountain. No way out but through.

Tropes & content include: ensemble reunion · found family under fire · fated mates pregnancy · fated bonds tested · morally gray villain who might be right · competence under pressure · ticking clock · prank wars before the storm

Reading order. The first Fallen Response Unit series is six books and complete. Rising Storm is the first half of a two-part finale, and the second half, Enduring Light, is out now. Rising Storm can be read without the earlier books, but it ends mid-story, and Enduring Light finishes it. Each of the other books stands on its own.

Book 5 of The Fallen Response Unit: fallen angels running the supernatural emergencies no one else can survive.
